Faculty Awards

The College of Science and Engineering offers research and teaching awards to CSE faculty, in addition to the awards available through Western's President's office. For a full list of available awards, please visit the President's Office website.

Arlan Norman Award for Excellence in Student Mentoring

The Arlan Norman Award for Excellence has two aspects. First, it recognizes a faculty member in the College of Science and Engineering for excellence in mentoring student research. Based upon that faculty member's nomination, a financial award is made to that faculty member's student in the form of a summer salary, with additional funds for supplies to support the student recipient’s summer research.

Paul J. Olscamp Research Award

Named after the eleventh president of Western, the Paul J. Olscamp Research Award goes to a faculty member from either the College of Humanities and Social Sciences or the College of Science and Engineering in recognition of their impressive record of achievement in scholarship and research during their time at Western.

Peter J. Elich Excellence in Teaching Award

The Peter J. Elich Excellence in Teaching Award, named for Western’s former dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, is given to a faculty member from either the College of Humanities and Social Sciences or the College of Science and Engineering, in recognition for their exemplary teaching practices.
