Scholarship Processes and Timelines

Summer Research Award/Fellowship procedures:

  1. College makes call for nominations.
  2. Students (with faculty support) apply via this MS Form.
    1. If departments decide their own nominees, applications are forwarded to the department for consideration; departments return name of awardee to the college.
  3. Application review by CSE scholarship committee or Dean’s designee, and awardee selection.

Arlan Norman Award procedures:

  1. College makes call for nominations.
  2. Department chairs or program directors submit letters of nomination and candidate CV via MS form.
    1. Application review and awardee selection committee: CSE Dean, Dean of the Graduate School, prior year’s faculty and student winners and a student representative from the Graduate Council.

Spring scholarship procedures:

  1. All scholarship applications and processing will take place through Western's general scholarship portal.
