Mike is retired from a career in which he did many different things. He began his technical career with IBM as a work-study student while earning a BSEE at Cornell. Upon graduation, he took a full time position in the IBM labs. A year later he returned to Cornell for graduate study in solid state electronics. After returning to IBM he transferred to the marketing division where he helped sell the large mainframe computers of that time. While working at IBM he earned an MBA from the University of Chicago with concentrations in statistics and finance. Subsequently he drilled for oil, was an independent data processing consultant, worked for a firm that developed technical training materials and was an instructor for a firm that taught presentation, selling and negotiating skills. Both of his children, Erich Anderson ’09 and Stacy Anderson ’13 are graduates of Western.
