The AGIC (formerly named the AWC - Association for Women in Computing) is here to build an empowering environment for women, non-binary, trans, gender non-conforming, and all people in a gender minority in computer science by providing opportunities for community, networking, professional development, and leadership.

While our new website is under construction, shoot us an email to join! Include your name, pronouns (if you'd like), and the email where you'd prefer to receive club information. Everyone is welcome.

Normal meetings are every other Wednesday from 4:00 - 5:00 PM in CF 420.

AGIC Winter Club Schedule

Come join the Competitive Programming Club if you’ve been putting off interview prep. Our mission is to prepare you to get internships and jobs in a fun, social way. Plus, it sounds cool on your resume! Did you know that when you apply for a programming position, employers will often have you take a timed programming test before they ever talk to you? If you don’t get everything right, they often don’t talk to you again. That’s why it’s important to be working on these skills early, so by the time you’re applying for interviews you know what you’re doing! We also go to the International Collegiate Programming Competition every year, which is a fun school-funded event where you can earn medals and plaques.

When/where are the meetings?

  • Monday 3:00pm - 5:00pm in CF 420 (Winter 24)
  • If you have partial conflicts, just come during whatever period of time works for you!

What do meetings look like?

Meetings Spring Quarter will be focused on preparing for interviews. A typical meeting looks like this:

  • a social activity so you can connect with club members
  • a 5-10 minute talk, presentation or video about interview
  • the rest of the time is spend working on a programming problem similar to one you may get on an interview test

What’s the International Collegiate Programming Competition?

  • this competition is a well-regarded competition between programmers from all over the world
  • the next regional is THIS QUARTER (Winter 24)
  • there are two divisions, so both beginners and advanced programmers can participate
  • if you compete in the harder division, you could go all the way up to winning the world champion title
  • the actual competition involves teams of 3 trying to solve a big list of programming problems over the course of about 5 hours
  • this past competition, the school paid for us to get a hotel and paid for our food each day
  • invite your friends and do some traveling on the school’s dime!

The Competitive Programming Club is an inclusive place for anyone from beginner to advanced programmer. It’s also a place to meet some of your peers and do something you need to do while having fun. We hope to see you at our next meeting!

Tutor hours: Monday-Friday 4:00-7:00 PM CF 162 & 164

(Beginning Monday, October 4)

Students requesting help must go to CF 162 or 164 and submit their question as a ticket on the CS Tutors Ticket Submission website. When a student submits their ticket, they will be put into a waiting queue until a tutor is available to help them. The CS Tutor ticket queue is first-come-first-serve which means they will have to wait on all other students' tickets before them. Once a student ticket is up next the name of the student will be called out, and they will receive help from a tutor. The CS Tutor Center is IN PERSON ONLY so if a student's name is called and they aren't in CF 162 or 164. their ticket will be discarded, and they will not receive help. The CS Tutors are not professionals so they may not always be able to answer a student's question, but they will always do their best. See the CS Tutors website to see what classes may be covered per day. If a CS related class is not listed, a student may come in anyways, and Tutors will do their best to help.

We discuss object-oriented concepts and take what we learn to create large-scale projects. Object-oriented design is a common approach to designing software and is appealing to have on a resume. It is also great practice for CSCI 345 and an opportunity to expand on concepts taught in that course.

Our club is open to anyone who is interested in software design and/or architecture. No prior object-oriented design experience is required.

Join remotely from our Discord server.

The WWU Game Design club is a place for all majors and areas of study to talk about game design, show off their personal projects, recruit people for a project, and find resources for their own endeavors. This year we also hope to begin connecting members with industry professionals, internships, and knowledge about the game design industry(s). Regardless of your major and your experience with game design, if you have a passion for creating games of any sort (including games that are not video games, such as card games and board games), you are welcome at the WWU Game Design Club!

We meet weekly Wednesdays 5:00pm - 6:00pm @ CF 420 and host quarterly game jams.
