Yes, you must be a declared major in one of our departments or programs to be eligible to receive a summer research award. Our departments and programs are:

Yes, you may apply to as many awards that you are qualified for. Summer Research Awards may be applied to using the same form - just check each award you would like to apply for.
No, only students who intend to enroll in undergraduate courses in the fall are eligible to receive an undergraduate summer research award.
Students have demonstrated financial need if they qualify for a minimum of $1 in financial aid through FAFSA or WAFSA.
Applications are due at 11:59pm of the deadline. If you are experiencing submission issues, please reach out to cse@wwu.edu as soon as possible.

Faculty FAQs
Faculty submit letters of recommendation directly to this MS Form. If you have any issues with the submission process, please email cse@wwu.edu.
No, you do not need to write multiple letters of recommendation, but your letter must address all requirements of the scholarship. For example, letters of recommendation for the Kohlmeier Mikulencak summer research award should mention the student’s neurodivergence and how they have successfully managed it.
Yes, faculty letters of recommendation are due by the official summer research award application deadline.
Yes, faculty members can writer letters of recommendation for as many students as they wish.
