Regina Barber DeGraaff, PhD
STEM Inclusion and Outreach Mission: To cultivate and maintain partnerships with faculty and inclusion programs locally & nationally that are devoted to the recruitment, retention and support of underrepresented students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
Regina Barber DeGraaff teaches physics and astronomy at Western. Regina completed her PhD in Physics in 2011 from Washington State University with a focus in Astrophysics, studying globular cluster systems. She is also the first STEM Inclusion and Outreach Specialist at WWU with duties that involve planning campus wide events, student club support, advising, committee work and grant writing. Regina is also the host of the radio show & podcast Spark Science, a talk show which strives to make science accessible to all.
Regina will be hosting remote office hours via Zoom Tuesday and Thursday from 11am - Noon and by appointment. Students, Staff, and Faculty are welcome to discuss any opportunities, issues, or ideas they may have on how to enhance our equity and inclusion efforts during this time. In order to protect privacy and potentially sensitive issues, you will be placed into a waiting room upon joining the meeting until Regina is available to speak to you one-on-one.
