WASHINGTON SPACE GRANT SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FUTURE SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS, AND TECHNOLOGY TEACHERS
The Science Mathematics and Technology Education (SMATE) Program at Western Washington University offers the Western Washington University Washington Space Grant Scholarships on an annual basis pending funding from NASA. A variable number of $5,000 scholarships will be awarded for undergraduate or graduate students at WWU who are planning to become a STEM teacher in grades K-12. Applicants must major in one of the STEM fields and plan to teach in the public school system. They must also be a U.S citizen. Applicants will be judged based on their GPA in their major courses, recommendations from faculty, and their personal commitment to teaching. Applications are encouraged from current WWU students and community college students planning to attend WWU in 2018-2019. Western Washington University is committed to improving the quality and increasing the diversity of science teachers in the public schools.
For the 2018-19 academic year, two scholarships, each for $5000, will be awarded.
