Qualifications

 

Basic Requirements:

  • BS or MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related degree
  • 1+ years of post academic professional software engineering experience

Preferred Requirements:

  • Expertise in building large scale distributed systems and cloud services 
  • Expertise in Routing, TCPIP and BGP 
  • Proficiency in one or more: C#, C++, GoLang, Java, Rust
  • Knowledge of large-scale Data Processing, Monitoring, Alerting and Fleet Management is a plus 
  • Knowledge of security and compliance is a plus

Summary:

Facebook AR/VR focuses on delivering Facebook's vision through Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). The compute performance and power efficiency requirements of Virtual and Augmented Reality require custom silicon. Facebook Silicon team is driving the state of the art forward with breakthrough work in computer vision, machine learning, mixed reality, graphics, displays, sensors, and new ways to map the human body. Our chips will enable AR and VR devices where our real and virtual world will mix and match throughout the day. We believe the only way to achieve our goals is to look at the entire stack, from transistor, through architecture, to firmware, and algorithms.We are seeking an Algorithm Modeling Firmware Engineer to support C++ modeling of computer vision, ML and other algorithms implemented in dedicated hardware accelerators (HWA) which are used inside our ASICs. The successful candidate will be part of a team that includes algorithm, software, firmware and hardware design and verification experts. The ideal candidate will understand algorithms, C++ modeling, virtual platforms, and firmware development processes. This is a full-time position based in either our Redmond, WA or Menlo Park, CA offices.

Required Skills:

  1. Work with IP Architect to delineate and develop C++ models for algorithms that will get implemented in hardware.
  2. Support use of C/C++ models for architectural modeling and algorithm benchmarking.
  3. Support integrating the models into Virtual Platform by SystemC wrappers for early firmware development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. B.S. degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  2. 2+ years of hands-on low-level programming experience including bit-level manipulation of data.
  3. Knowledge in algorithms, data structures, software design and programming experience in C/C++ for development, debugging, testing and performance analysis.
  4. Experience in writing, manipulating and maintaining scripts - Python or similar (Perl, Bash/AWK, Tcl).

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. M.S. degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  2. Knowledge of audio, image, video and computer vision processing including file formats, meta data and related techniques for digital signal processing.
  3. Knowledge of deep learning techniques such as CNN.
  4. Experience with SystemC modeling.
  5. Experience in reference model development.

Whatcom Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Computer Information Systems instructor beginning Fall Quarter 2020. WCC is a national leader in Cyber-Security education. As the host of the NCyTE center, WCC is key in helping develop Centers of Cyber- Security excellence nationwide. WCC is a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance/Cyber Defense. The College is seeking a dynamic individual interested in developing and engaging students through the use and implementation of innovative and inclusive curriculum and teaching methods, including the application of technology, both inside and outside the classroom. The college is looking to expand its team of technology education leaders. The College seeks faculty who can adapt to a variety of teaching situations and who have the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, colleagues, staff, and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and global understanding.  College faculty teach an equivalent of 15 credits per quarter and participate in contributing to the college through committee service and program leadership and development.

Job Responsibilities:
This position will be expected to teach required courses that prepare students for the networking and security workforce or transfer; to collaborate with college faculty and administrators in contributing to the future vision and scope of Computer Information Systems programs at the college; to remain current in the field and adapt courses to meet changing cybersecurity, networking job skills and qualification requirements; to develop and maintain contacts and knowledge of companies and organizations in the community; to identify and contribute to activities that promote student development such as student clubs and/or other student volunteer activities; and perform other duties as assigned.
 
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach introductory and advanced courses.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director in implementing the goals of the program.
  • Evaluate and update curriculum and course offerings.
  • Develop and monitor student learning outcomes.
  • Participate in faculty development and governance activities, including periodic service as Technology Department chair.
  • Mentor and assist adjunct faculty.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 Qualifications, Salary and Appointment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or Cyber Security or equivalent training and experience or a combination of education and experience.
  • Current industry certifications (e.g. A+, Network+, Security+, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a Cyber Security or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable record of keeping current in the CIS field.
  • Teaching or training experience, preferably in a technical or community college.
  • Ability to teach lab based classes.
  • Ability to create lab materials, configure computer images for lab activities, and provide assistance to students in a lab environment.
  • Willingness to participate in program initiatives.

The Associate Director for the National Cybersecurity Education Centers hosted at Whatcom Community College (WCC) will report to and support the centers' Director/Principal Investigator (PI), and collaborate with other senior personnel and grant co-PIs, in carrying out the mission, objectives and activities of NCyTE--The National Cybersecurity Training & Education Center and the Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) National Cybersecurity Resource Center (CNRC)*. Specifically, this position will help strategize, oversee and implement NCyTE and CNRC efforts related to resource development and dissemination, faculty/ institutional mentoring and development, student and educational pathways development, and industry engagement around cybersecurity education and workforce development.  Efforts are national in scope including a national Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) mentor/mentee program to support faculty/administrators in successfully applying for the CAE cybersecurity education designation from the NSA.

* NCyTE is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF); CNRC is funded by the National Security Agency (NSA). 

Job Responsibilities

The Associate Director will:

-Participate in the strategic planning and visioning for the centers, their missions and objectives.
-Serve in the capacity of the Director/PI in Director's absence.
-Contribute effectively to ideas for strengthening and implementing all center objectives and new initiatives. 
-Oversee and implement projects associated with NCyTE/CNRC objectives.
-Supervise center support staff.
-Plan, travel to, facilitate and conduct workshops and educational activities on behalf of the centers.
-Coordinate and collaborate with grant sub-awardees involved in center initiatives.
-Oversee tracking, progress, deliverables, budgets and data for all center projects.
-Be knowledgeable of, oversee and assess the effectiveness of consultants/mentors contracted to work on center projects or with colleges and universities on CAE applications.
-Identify and support development of additional resources in support of CAE Regional Resource Centers and NCyTE constituents/members.
-Participate in and contribute constructively to NCyTE/CNRC leadership, administration and coordination.
-Provide necessary information and documentation for all project reporting in a timely manner and assist with report development.
-Other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications, Salary and Appointment

Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree;
-College degree or related experience in business administration of IT/Cybersecurity; 
-Work experience as an administrator or program/department lead in a college or office setting;
-Project management certificate or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Master's degree;
-College degree or related experience in business administration or IT/Cybersecurity;
-Teaching or curriculum development experience in higher education;
-Experience leading or working with federal grants;
-Budget management experience;
-Experience managing personnel;
-Facility with Word, Excel, Access database, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Specific Position Requirements:

-Ability to travel and work out of State and over weekends as work requires.
-Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for reimbursable travel.

Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:

-Strong organizational and communication skills (both oral and written).
-Ability to prepare and do presentations in public or business settings.
-Familiarity with collaborative tools to facilitate work with off-campus collaborators (e.g. Zoom, Google Docs).
-Ability to work under and meet aggressive deadlines and to manage multiple priorities.
-Experience leading teams and complex projects.

Salary and Appointment:

-This is a one year, temporary, grant funded, full-time administrative/exempt position with a likely extension contingent on funding. Exempt from Washington State civil service law with an annual salary based upon a range of $60,000-$74,000 depending on experience.
