Administration

AMSEC operates with a small staff comprised of a faculty director, lab manager, and department manager. With the assistance of student support staff including graduate assistants, AMSEC runs a lean, collaborative program that fosters student and faculty research.

Center Oversight

The AMSEC director is drawn from the faculty membership ranks and serves a two-year term with an opportunity to continue for a second term. The director provides strategic leadership, initiates new directions, and helps secure internal and external support for AMSEC activities.

AMSEC staff manage the lab and administrative day-to-day activities. By working closely with faculty, campus-wide offices, industry partners, and students, the staff sees that all aspects of AMSEC run smoothly.

Lab Operations

The lab manager maintains, operates, and schedules a wide variety of advanced instrumentation to meet teaching and research needs of the university. By developing technical manuals, lab experiments for science courses, and operating and training individuals on instrumentation, the lab manager is the lab’s keystone position involved in all lab activities.

Administrative and Student Services

The department manager facilitates the day-to-day operations of AMSEC – from budget and financial services to academic and student services. Faculty who have generated over $2.6 million in research grants under the AMSEC auspices, rely on the department manager for fund management and support services.
